Following a community governance review in early 2018 the outcome of that consultation was that residents wanted Waverley to have its own Parish Council and no longer be split between the Parishes of Catcliffe (A) and Orgreave (B).
Rotherham Borough Council submitted a Reorganisation Order in July 2018 which started the timeline for the creation of the new parish.
Waverley Parish due to be created 1st April 2019 and a parish council will be established in May 2019 following the election process.
A public meeting was held on 5th February 2019 to outline the timeline for this change and also to provide further information on what a Parish Council is.
Presentations were received from
- Rotherham Borough Council Neighbourhood Team
- YLCA (Yorkshire Local Councillors Association)
- Rotherham Borough Council Elections Team
Also in attendance were ward councillors and clerks from neighbouring Parish Councils.
The slide below were presented to attendees during the meeting.
